World Poker Association promotes professionalism and sportsmanship worldwide.

PR9.NET June 19, 2007 - Las Vegas, NV - The World Poker Association (WPA) is promoting professionalism, sportsmanship and a chance to score big at the 2007 World Series of Poker with a raffle drawing that will benefit Core of Compassion in its effort to help feed hungry children in Las Vegas.

The WPA now boasts more than 1,100 voting members, thanks to a membership drive that is in full swing at the WPA Booth just outside the main entrance of the WSOP tournament arena at the Rio All Suites Hotel.

The WPA is currently offering everyone a chance to play in the main event at the 2007 World Series of Poker through a raffle drawing that is open to anyone who is a WPA member. Raffle tickets are $50 each and are available at the WPA Booth up until the drawing on July 4th at 5PM. The prize package includes a seat in the main event of the 2007 WSOP, and $1,000 toward expenses. The winner does not have to be present to receive the prize, but raffle tickets are not transferable.

The WSOP invites everyone to visit the Booth and buy tickets to benefit its raffle partner, Core of Compassion. WPA will turn over all net proceeds from raffle purchases to this Las Vegas-based charity that works with the Clark County School District to feed hungry children of Las Vegas.

While you're at the WPA Booth you might just run into WSOP champions Doyle Brunson, Joe Hachem, Jamie Gold, Johnny Chan, and Phil Hellmuth Jr. They are among the 1,100 champions of the poker industry who have joined together to support the highest ethical standards in tournament poker.

The WPA Ethics Committee, led by WSOP Champion Tom McEvoy is moving quickly toward an expanded WPA Code of Ethics that will be considered by the Board of Directors at its July 9 meeting in Las Vegas.

Members can drop by the Booth to buy raffle tickets, meet fellow members and offer suggestions for Code of Ethics. McEvoy says, "Drop by the WPA Booth and score big! Be a member; show your commitment to professionalism, good sportsmanship, compassion for children, and a commitment to the highest ethical standards in poker tournament activities worldwide." Who knows, you might hit the winning number at the WPA Raffle Drawing on the 4th of July.
