Summer Workshops for Teachers, 2007
The Education Station in Northwest Arkansas has scheduled summer workshops for area teachers for Summer 2007. PR9.NET July 05, 2007 - Arkansas, USA - Teachers spend a lot of their summer getting ready for the next school year. Requirements for continuing education mean a lot of hours spent in workshops. The Education Station of Northwest Arkansas is offering teacher workshops in July and August. The Arkansas History workshops satisfy the requirement for two hours of Arkansas History inservice training. The schedule for July and August is as follows: Tuesday, July 24 Cinderella Around the World Use Cinderella stories from around the world to study reading, writing, critical thinking, social studies, art, music, math, and science. Thursday, July 26 Arkansas History K-2 Geography cookies, Native American resourcefulness, packing the wagon, and more. Tuesday, July 31 Insects Across the Curriculum Meet all the NEW life science standards, with cross-curricular connections. Thursday, August 2 Arkansas History 3-5 Geography cookies, prehistoric technology, when Arkansas was the Wild West, and the Civil War. Tuesday, August 7 Physical Science for Primary Grades Scientific inquiry and process skills, physical properties, states of matter, force and motion, light, heat, electricity, and magnetism – fun, hands-on, designed for the NEW science standards, and you can do it whether you ever took physics or not. Thursday, August 9 Arkansas History for Middle School Incorporate NEW science and social studies standards in a study of Arkansas earth science. All workshops are from 9:00 to 11:00 a.am. at the Jones Center for Families. The materials fee for each workshop is $20. Pre-registration is required.
