Nigeria Independence Day Carnival Houston Texas
I Pledge to Nigeria My Country Houston Carnival is a 3day fun parked carnival spanning Sept. 28th – 30th 2007 to mark the 47th independence day celebration of our country. A celebration, to educate and enlighten people about Nigerians: as the best platform for Nigerians in the United States to bridge the cultural gap that exists between generations and celebrate their independence. PR9.NET September 02, 2007 - HOUSTON - Nigeria Houston Carnival announced the landmark patriotic and philanthropic 47th Nigeria Independence Day Carnival taking place in Houston Texas on September 28, 29 and 30th 2007 at the All Saints Community Center. The Youths in Houston and other organizations whose involvement with the carnival dates back to the planning stages are excited to be partnering with Fight Hunger (part of the UN World Food Programme). Nothing could be more appropriate than this Carnival being visible to the millions of visitors and to all citizens who each have a special relationship with the magnificent independence of Nigeria and Fight Hunger Campaign. The NIGERIAN INDEPENDENCE DAY CARNIVAL is a celebration, to educate and enlighten people about Nigerians as the best platform for Nigerians in the United States to bridge the cultural gap that exists between generations and celebrate their independence. This is a first of its kind in Houston. The Theme of this event is Fight Hunger while CELEBRATING OUR COUNTRY. This year's event will consist of 3 days Fun Packed Family Extravaganza: • Independence Day Parade • Stage Play "Things Fall Apart" • Crowning of Miss Naija Texas • All Ethnicity Cultural Dance Competition • Achievement Award Presentation • United Nations Recognition Award • Fight Hunger Campaign Exhibition • Live Performances by Artists, • All Night Party • Old School Cultural Night – Show off your tradition (represent your state) • Thanksgiving Service to pray for Nigeria • Fashion Shows – themed "Fashion for Hunger" – Designers & Models for Hunger • Greek Stepping I Pledge to Nigeria my Country Houston Carnival will feature Delicious food, great bands, wonderful music, and fabulous costumes. Hundreds of spectators will line up along the streets to celebrate Nigerian Heritage and also help Walk for hunger in Nigeria. There will be approximately 3000 guests, including honorees and a host of other important Dignitaries from Abuja is to grace the occasion. The responsibility of Nation building rest solely and squarely with the Leaders but the youth as well as its citizen both in Nigeria and in the Diaspora have a role to play. The more we work together as a team to rebuild Nigeria, the more successful all our efforts will be. The greatness of Nigeria rests in this generation and this generation is taking it by force. As the nation forges ahead in a new direction and presidency, we all need to get back to the drawing board and decide what is best for our nation, renew our pledges to our country, reshape our perspectives and recognize our responsibilities to our Country. We can do all things in togetherness if all our visions for our country become realities, deeper commitments, and selfless efforts. After all, aren't we all stakeholders in the success of Nigeria?
