Surviving Kids Organization Founded
A non-profit titled Memories for Surviving Kids Inc. has been founded with the mission of encouraging friends and family of deceased parents to provide letters for the children. Founder Bob DiPasquale has teamed with psychotherapists and grief experts to create a website (MFSK.org) that tells how best to make this communication happen.
PR9.NET March 28, 2007 - Round Rock, TX – There's a real possibility that you had a friend or family member that died fairly young, and passed before his or her kids got to know them very well. An organization called Memories for Surviving Kids, Inc. now exists to help those children get to know their lost parents a little better. Whether you're the friend or the surviving parent, you owe it to yourself to visit their website (MFSK.org) and learn why founder Bob DiPasquale is encouraging people to get started writing letters for surviving kids.
A two time surviving kid himself, Bob didn't really realize his mission until his own best friend passed a few years ago. "I stood at his funeral, and listened to the people whispering "the kids are so young" and "I wish there was something I could do". I just knew from my own experience that if the people who attended my parent's funeral had written letters for myself about my Mom and Dad, those letters would likely be my most prized possessions."
With that inspiration, Mr. DiPasquale set out to develop a Web site that facilitates this valuable communication. Bob has teamed with psychotherapist Alexandra Kennedy, and Grief Recovery Institute founders Russell Friedman and John James, to create a resource that will help guide you through the process.
According to Dr Friedman, "In our 45 years of helping people deal with unresolved grief, one of the most poignant laments we hear repeatedly is: 'I wish I knew WHO my dad or mom was.' Memories for Surviving Kids is the greatest antidote for that heart-breaking dilemma."
The Memories for Surviving Kids Web site (www.mfsk.org) provides some advice on how the surviving parent can go about requesting letters, and how they might conclude that the time for sharing the letters is right. The charity even offers a free letter request kit with ice breakers for broaching the topic of letter writing with friends and family.
Memories for Surviving Kids, Inc. has been adopted as a project of Social and Environmental Entrepreneurs. Their fiscal sponsorship allows MFSK to gratefully accept tax-deductible donations, which can be made in memoriam.
