The New Year is approaching rapidly - don't get caught unprepared. Classic Wines provides feature articles on Champagne, Sparkling White Wine, and other holiday wines.

PR9.NET December 27, 2007 - Chester, PA - As the New Year approaches, ClassicWines.com provides articles that can help consumers celebrate. It has become a holiday standard to raise glasses of Champagne as the big ball drops, but most people have trouble deciding which brand to get, what vintage to get, and if sparkling white wine even counts as Champagne.

Dylan York, author of "Reign of Champagne", can help in the historical department. "By the turn of the century", York states, "…Champagne had become so widespread that the word itself became associated with all sparkling wines. The French government took this very seriously and staked its claim on the word and now only wines from the ordained regions could be called Champagne." He goes on to explain how sparkling white wine branched out from Champagne, and how different styles evolved out of that. York also promises three more articles to help inform eager readers.

Knowing the history of Bubbly is helpful, but it doesn't help consumers choose a brand when walking down the wine shop isle. Author and Sommelier Brian Freedman steps in with his champagne article "A Sparkling Guide to Ringing in the New Year" and offers specific brands for varying kinds of budgets.

Consider this cost effective selection, "Inexpensive: Freixenet Brut, Just love that matte black bottle. Plus, for an inexpensive sparkling, it's the driest you're going to find. Trust me, in this price range there is a lot of cloying jamminess afoot. Not here. A truly good value for those of us who are on a budget, but graduated from sugar camp.
