May 2008 Long Range Weather Forecasts
Much of the nation will enjoy seasonal temperatures and precipitation in May. The Northern Plains will hold a chill as will southern California. The Southern Plains will be warmer and drier. PR9.NET April 15, 2008 - Columbia, Mo - Dynamic Predictables predicts May 2008 temperatures will be cooler than usual in southern California, the Northern Plains and New England. There will be pockets of warmer than usual readings from Texas to Nebraska and into Colorado. Elsewhere, temperatures will be seasonal. May 2008 precipitation will be seasonal for much of the nation. The southwest, the Great Basin into the Central Plains will be drier than usual. The Pacific coastal areas will be moist. Florida, and coastal New England will enjoy abundant rainfall. Although there will still be some lingering chill in the Northern Plains, seasonal May temperatures will be a welcome respite from the winter doldrums. There will even be some modest "warmer than usual" readings in the Southern Plains. Weather demand on energy will be minimal with heating needs diminishing and cooling requirements not yet building. Temperatures will finally warm to acceptable levels to support quick emergence. The Southern Plains could remain dry stressing the winter wheat crop, and typical May moisture should allow fields to firm although it may be a slow process in the northern Plains and upper Corn Belt because of slower than usual evaporation rates. Soils are moist so root development could be shallow making the crop vulnerable to dry weather when it arrives. May may be the best retail weather month of the year to date. Spring and summer clothes should finally move, although more from the desire of consumers to shake off winter than a rush to swimwear. On the other side of the coin, May weather may be more conducive to outdoor activities, keeping all but the shopping addicted from the malls. Landscaping could be the recreational escape of the season. Graphics are available on web site, www.dynamicpredictables.com .
