East Texas Collie Breeder Looking for Needy Charity to Donate a High Quality AKC Registered Collie Puppy
Rose Family Collies, a breeder of AKC registered full-sized collies, also referred to as "rough" or "bearded" collies, is located in the northern part of the Piney Woods of East Texas. In April, Rose Family Collies will have collie puppies for sale ready to go to new homes. As a way of giving back to the community, Rose Family Collies is seeking to donate one of the puppies to a worthy charity in need of a puppy to train as a therapy or service dog. PR9.NET April 05, 2010 - When their first collie litter was produced in January of 2008, Rose Family Collies had a vision to give a free collie puppy to a worthy charity which could train the dog in a service or therapy capacity. At that time they became aware of newly formed NPO, Elijah's Retreat, nestled in the woods outside of Jacksonville, TX. Elijah's Retreat had a mission to build a non-profit, Christ-centered retreat for families with children affected by autism. The vision of the founders of Elijah's Retreat, Jeff and Kathy Moore, was to provide autistic children and their families a place to get away and experience the sights and sounds of a country setting. They also desired to have therapy trained animals available for the families to interact with. To reach this goal, they either purchased or received donations of full-sized horses as well as miniature horses and goats. They also purchased one female tri-colored collie puppy from Rose Family Collies. It was at this time that Rose Family Collies saw the potential of collies to serve at Elijah's Retreat. To further the work with families affected by autism, Rose Family Collies chose to make their first donation, a sable colored male puppy named Gentle, to Elijah's Retreat. Since that time, Rose Family Collies has sought to give away one puppy out of every other litter that they produced. The breeder only selects high quality collie stock that is genetically proven and tested to be free of the Collie Eye Anomaly (CEA) disease and with great health histories. This assures that their collies will have very low occurrences of other health problems such as hip dysplasia. Rose Family Collies will have collie puppies ready for adoption to new homes by the end of April, 2010. If anyone knows a service oriented charity that is in need of a puppy, they can contact the breeders, Gregory and Dixie Rose, through their website at www.RoseFamilyCollies.com or they may call them at 903-584-0364. Full-sized, pure-bred collies have many wonderful qualities that make them suitable as therapy or service dogs as well as the ideal family pet. These qualities include their loyalty, their intelligence and ease of training and their gentleness once trained. Rose Family Collies wants to give one of their soon-to-be available, AKC registered collie puppies to a charity that has a need for and can train a dog for either service or therapy work. # # # |
