Seattle Woman Selected as Sam Walton Emerging Entrepreneur
Amy Lang, Founder of Birds+Bees+Kids Among 25 Women Honored Nationwide PR9.NET October 22, 2008 - Seattle, WA - The founder of a Seattle-based parent sexual education company, Birds+Bees+Kids, was among 25 women across the country to be selected as a Sam Walton Emerging Entrepreneur. Amy Lang was chosen by a panel of national business leaders for this prestigious honor based of her company's core mission and vision, business practices including employee education and mentoring, involvement in the community, financial growth and number of years in business. In celebration of the retailer's 25th anniversary, Sam's Club, a division of Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. and Count Me In for Women's Economic Independence launched this award initiative to champion women entrepreneurs nationwide. Lang was recognized at an event held in Charlotte, NC on October 7, 2008. "By creating new jobs and generating revenue, these women are the backbone of their communities and the national economy," said Count Me In's Founder and CEO, Nell Merlino. "It is an immense source of pride to earn this recognition and I am excited about the award's mission to provide professional business consulting that will increase my contribution back to the community.
