Stay-at-home mom now helps other women who want to own their own home business.

PR9.NET December 06, 2005 - MESA. ARIZONA– Joyce Gowens has been promoted to Senior Director of the Internet site, Bizymoms.com.

Gowens is married and mother to 5 children from 6 to 13 years of age. Her oldest son is a Desert Storm baby. "He was born with severe brain damage and is severely developmentally delayed." Joyce explains, "After he was born there was no question in my mind I would be a stay at home mom."

Bizymoms.com opened its doors early in 1997 with message boards, chats and online resources. The site's goal was to show moms they could have it all, they could stay home with their kids, while running a home business. "I had reached the end of my rope in trying to find someone to support my home business idea. I didn't need ideas or money, I just needed a simple "I believe in you," Explains Joyce Gowens.

It was in an online chat at Bizymoms.com that Joyce found just what she was looking for. Liz Folger, work-at-home expert, and founder of Bizymoms was hosting a chat on how to find the perfect home business. Joyce explains, "I had never been to a chat, but I logged in anyway. Not believing in myself very much, I figured I had nothing to lose really, and I typed, 'I want to start a balloon business, but I don't really know where to begin.'"

It was at that point Liz Folger typed back telling her she had a good idea. Liz gave her several ideas on how to market and told her to write a business plan. "And the rest is history" explains Joyce. Joyce has never really left Bizymoms since then. She soon became a chat host, encouraging other moms to work at home; then she was promoted to community producer, and now to Senior Director, all from her home office.

Liz Folger explains, "Being a stay-at-home mom doesn't mean that you're not an intelligent person or that you don't have goals and dreams of your own. Sometimes moms want to start a small business on the side, something they can call their own." Often times though a spouse or friends will not support their idea. "Moms need a place to go, explains Folger, A place where they can get the encouragement they need to make their work-at-home dreams happen."

To those moms who are thinking of starting their own business, Joyce says, "Start! I implore other stay-at-home moms to stop thinking about it and anticipating problems, and to actually do it! Start somewhere, that is what counts."
