Stamford Therapeutics Consortium announced today that Tom Grotta will now lead the pharmaceutical clinical trial company as President. Grotta acquired the 12-year old company in August of 2005, and has been the firm's acting president since January 2006. The firm specializes in clinical trials for the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries and is now recruiting patients for multiple studies on osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, and fibromyalgia treatments.

A business management professional and non-profit executive, Grotta will bring STC his experience in marketing, sales and customer relationship management. Grotta acquired the 12-year old company in August of 2005, and has been the firm's acting president since January 2006.

Grotta has held a number of directorial positions including serving as the Executive Director of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation's Greater New York Chapter, a position he has held since 2003. Prior to this, Grotta spent several years at DoubleClick Digital Advertising and Email Solutions, where he held positions as Director, and then Vice President of Sales & Account Management.

Stamford Therapeutics Consortium is now recruiting patients for multiple studies on Osteoarthritis, Rheumatoid Arthritis, and Fibromyalgia treatments. Over 25 million Americans suffer from these conditions, which are all distinguished by chronic pain in the muscles, ligaments, tendons and around joints.

* Osteoarthritis, also called degenerative joint disease, is the most common type of arthritis. It is associated with a breakdown of cartilage in joints and can occur in almost any joint in the body. It most commonly occurs in the fingers, hips, knees and spine.

* Rheumatoid Arthritis is a type of chronic arthritis that occurs in joints on both sides of the body (such as hands, wrists or knees). This symmetry helps distinguish rheumatoid arthritis from other types of arthritis.

* Fibromyalgia causes pain in the muscles and soft tissues of the body. Symptoms include lack of energy and difficulty sleeping. Fibromyalgia is a syndrome, rather than a disease, in that it is a set of symptoms that occur together, but do not have a known cause.
