PR9.NET May 01, 2006 - Stamford, CT – Stamford Therapeutics Consortium (STC) announced today that Tom Grotta will now lead the pharmaceutical clinical trial company as President. A business management professional and non-profit executive, Grotta will bring STC his experience in marketing, sales and customer relationship management. Grotta acquired the 12-year old company in August of 2005, and has been the firm's acting president since January 2006. "I am very excited about what the future holds for Stamford Therapeutics Consortium," comments Grotta. "I look forward to playing an important role in the company's continued commitment toward the advancement of medicine. This company brings together the skills and experience of both my business and health careers. STC has a great reputation in the industry, a solid pool of clinical trial patients, and partnerships with the best pharmaceutical companies and physicians. There is great potential here." Grotta has held a number of directorial positions including serving as the Executive Director of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation's Greater New York Chapter, a position he has held since 2003. Prior to this, Grotta spent several years at DoubleClick Digital Advertising and Email Solutions, where he held positions as Director, and then Vice President of Sales & Account Management. "We're thrilled to have Tom join Stamford Therapeutic Consortium and continue to further our business' role in the medical community," comments Judy Dalgin, Site Manager. "My late husband Paul Dalgin, MD and I began the business in 1994 to help pharmaceutical companies study the efficacy of new cutting-edge drugs. We can bring excellent care and closely monitored treatment plans to our patients, years before the drugs hit the mainstream market. Tom brings a fresh approach to the table – his leadership and experience will help us to all do our jobs successfully." Stamford Therapeutics Consortium is now recruiting patients for multiple studies on Osteoarthritis, Rheumatoid Arthritis, and Fibromyalgia treatments. Over 25 million Americans suffer from these conditions, which are all distinguished by chronic pain in the muscles, ligaments, tendons and around joints. * Osteoarthritis, also called degenerative joint disease, is the most common type of arthritis. It is associated with a breakdown of cartilage in joints and can occur in almost any joint in the body. It most commonly occurs in the fingers, hips, knees and spine. * Rheumatoid Arthritis is a type of chronic arthritis that occurs in joints on both sides of the body (such as hands, wrists or knees). This symmetry helps distinguish rheumatoid arthritis from other types of arthritis. * Fibromyalgia causes pain in the muscles and soft tissues of the body. Symptoms include lack of energy and difficulty sleeping. Fibromyalgia is a syndrome, rather than a disease, in that it is a set of symptoms that occur together, but do not have a known cause. Stamford Therapeutics Consortium is actively recruiting patients for these studies. To see if you are eligible, or to learn more about these studies, please call 203-325-8529 and ask for Judy. # # #
