Popular BBC radio personality Danny Kelly issues an on-air challenge to British hypnotherapist Peter Field to prove that hypnosis really does work by getting a volunteer – selected by Danny – to stop smoking. The volunteer and the therapist are scheduled to return to the show following the hypnosis in order to report the outcome.

PR9.NET February 11, 2010 - UK based hypnotherapist Peter Field has accepted an on-air challenge thrown down by popular BBC radio presenter Danny Kelly on his show Danny Kelly in the Afternoon.

On the show, which focused on New Year's resolutions, Danny's guest, leading British hypnotherapist Peter Field was unexpectedly challenged to prove that hypnotherapy really did work by helping a volunteer selected by Danny to stop smoking.

Danny explained that Peter - who runs clinics in London's Harley Street as well as in Birmingham's Brindleyplace - treated a whole range of issues, from anxiety and panic attacks to skin disorders and phobias using his unique form of advanced hypnotherapy.

On a follow-up programme broadcast just last Thursday, listeners heard the volunteer, whom Danny referred to as 'the guinea pig', speaking on the phone with Peter and explaining that he had been addicted to cigarettes for more than twenty years.

The man, who said his name was Chris, reported having tried desperately and on numerous occasions to stop smoking, but that each time he had met with failure. He reported having attempted to quit using numerous methods, from nicotine patches and Zyban medication to simple will power, but that nothing had worked.

Undeterred, and putting his reputation on the line, Peter said he was confident that he could help the man to end his cigarette addiction through his hypnotherapy skills, provided the desire was genuinely there.

He went on to explain that the essential thing was that the man's subconscious mind be realigned with the belief that he was no longer a smoker. 'Once your mind has accepted this new belief, then your own subconscious will automatically help you to leave cigarettes behind' he told the man.

The show has already generated a tremendous response from listeners with BBC's Danny Kelly promising to follow the man's progress on his show and to bring both him and Peter back into the studio within a couple of weeks in order to discuss the results of the challenge.
