Brown Company Players Delivers "BIG" U.S. Premiere
Brown Company Players is pleased to announce that the U.S. Premiere of Frank Moher's BIG BABY has been extended through November 18, 2005. PR9.NET November 04, 2005 - Brown Company Players is pleased to announce that the U.S. Premiere of Frank Moher's BIG BABY has been extended through November 18, 2005. Three shows have been added to accommodate the popular demand, including a 2:00 matinee on November 12. Other additional dates are Thursday, November 17 and Friday, November 18, 2005 curtain is at 8:00 pm on all evening performances. Brown Company Players is honored to be the first theater company in the United States to have mounted this surreal satire. "I had read the script months ago and fell in love. I have a very dry, dark sense of humor. I wasn't sure if audiences would get this type of comedy. However, with the success of shows like 'Desperate Housewives', I knew there was a taste for satire on the American palate. I am very pleased that our production has been so well received. It really has all been through word of mouth. This truly is the big little show that could!" exclaimed Executive Producer Tanika Brown McKelvy. Playwright Frank Moher is no stranger to American theater audiences, however. He has been well received not only in America but also internationally. Frank Moher's plays have been produced internationally, at theatres including South Coast Repertory (Costa Mesa, CA), the Canadian Stage Company (Toronto), the Wellington Repertory Theatre (Wellington, New Zealand), Workshop West Theatre (Edmonton, Alta.), the Asolo Theater (Sarasoto, FL), The Gyre and Gimble Theatre Company (Dublin), and the Mingei Theatre (Tokyo). He has won a Los Angeles Drama-Logue Award for Writing (for "Odd Jobs") and the Edmonton Sterling Award for Outstanding New Play (for both "Third Ascent" and "Prairie Report"). He lives in Gabriola Island, B.C., Canada. "I really loved the piece when I first read it," explained Director Diedre Kilgore, "I had a very clear idea of where I wanted to take this piece. It reads like a sitcom, but that is a trap. It is much smarter than that. I think we hit all the right notes. The audience response seems to agree!" Diedre has been a theatre director for the past two years and has been an actor for the past 15 years in theatre, film and television, working in Los Angeles, Seattle and New York City. While in New York, Diedre directed and performed in "Chalk it Up" at the Off-Broadway theatre Chashama, on 42nd Street, where she was twice nominated and won a Spottie Off-Broadway Award. "I think we were very fortunate to get Antonio Ramirez in the title role." Added Brown McKelvy. He is an actor and a comedian, but he is deft at both. My first time as a solo producer, I couldn't have asked for more." Ms. Brown McKelvy recently founded the Brown Company Players. She has also produced several short films and served as an Executive Producer on the feature film "The Good Neighbor Policy". She veraciously continues her pursuit of acting. Her most recent appearance was on the hit NBC television show "Las Vegas". Antonio Ramirez* stars as the "Big Baby". Antonio is an actor and comedian, a cross between Don Cheadle and Chris Rock. He has performed his stand up at host of venues, including; The Laugh Factory, The Comedy Store, The Comedy Union, The Ha Ha Café, Mixed Nuts Comedy Club, Miyagi's and The Ice House Annex. He has been featured on such television shows as "The Parkers" (UPN) and "Scrubs" (NBC). Elizabeth Goldstein stars as Daisy. Elizabeth infused a palpable realism to the role of Josephine Baker in the hit musical, "Sang Sista Sang", produced by Smokey Robinson. Elizabeth has previously received rave reviews for the show, "Advice to the Players" in both the Los Angeles Times and The Los Angeles Weekly. She has also made guest appearances on the show "Into the Night" and as Allantra, the first female Bolian, on the award winning sci-fi, "Star Trek Voyager" (Paramount). Joy Sudduth can be seen cavorting on many television commercials. She has numerous television roles to her credit.
