Stress is a huge topic of conversation and research has proven that sacred chant can help heal. Snatam Kaur, world-renowned chant artist, will be performing in D.C. March 28. With music that combines East and West, Snatam's concerts provide people with a way to release stress and experience peace.

PR9.NET March 14, 2007 - Washington D.C. - Snatam Kaur, world-renowned sacred chant/new age artist, brings her Celebrate Peace World Tour to the East Coast. Snatam Kaur will be performing live in Washington D.C. accompanied by the soaring signature guitar playing of GuruGanesha and the world/fusion tabla rhythms of Manish Vyas. With music that combines traditions of East and West, these performances are more than music! They provide participants with a way to release the stress of daily life and experience peace and joy within themselves. "Snatam Kaur has a voice like an angelic bell—it rings through the mind's distractions to soothe and soften the soul. Her music has the ability to bring light to the darker places within ourselves." says Leanne Wood of Sacred Sounds Radio.

Stress is a huge topic of conversation in today's fast-paced world. How to avoid stress; how to relieve stress; what happens to our bodies and minds when there's too much stress in our lives. It's funny…The more we talk about stress, the more we stress! What if, instead of talking about stress, we sing for peace! Snatam Kaur talks about how singing can help. "My mother was my first music teacher. She showed me that music is much more than just singing; that it can be a tool to help us overcome challenges of life. Yogi Bhajan taught me that when we chant, the energies of sacred sound move up the spine and rejuvenate and energize a person physically, mentally, and spiritually. In stressful times, I sing as a way to release emotions."

Dr. Ranjie Singe, author of the book Powerful Self-Healing Techniques, found that chanting causes the release of the hormone melatonin. In many studies, low melatonin levels have been shown to lead to depression, anxiety, and insomnia. Years ago, Dr. Herbert Benson of Harvard Medical School observed that chanting helps to cause reduction of heart beat, brain waves and respiration – also known as the "relaxation response." On an energetic level, Dr. David Shananoff-Khalsa has found that reciting some specific sacred mantras enables the tongue to stimulate the acupuncture meridians inside the mouth balancing the flow of chi through the body – especially the pineal gland - thus helping the body to relieve stress.

Inspiring people from all walks of life, all cultures and faiths; Snatam Kaur has significantly impacted the world; bringing a deep, spiritual, healing experience of peace to sold-out audiences worldwide. One fan says, "The music was so soothing and beautiful, her voice penetrated every part of my heart and was an indescribable feeling - especially for someone like me that has never heard kirtan." People who attend Snatam Kaur's concerts laugh, cry, dance and experience inner joy like never before. ''Rarely do you hear a voice so pure. To see her live is an experience unparalleled and unique. I left the concert feeling that only love exists. I am so happy to discover this rare jewel and share her music with my listeners,'' says Gary Goldberg, host of ''In the Spirit'' on WRPI.

"Our number one mission on the Celebrate Peace Tour is peace in the heart and peace in the homes. The best way I can share this message of peace is through what I know best – the mixture of sacred chant, music and yoga. Our sponsor, Peace Cereal, who not only makes yummy and healthy cereal, but also works hard to support people and businesses who spread peace on the planet, have helped to support this tour and its message. The greatest point in our concerts comes when people begin to experience that peace is possible through their own prayers and projections. There is a moment of magical silence and unmistakable inner empowerment. That is our collective 'A-Ha' moment."

Snatam Kaur will be performing at Bella Faccia (6521 Chillum Place, NW) on Wednesday, march 28th from 7:30 - 9:30 pm. The upcoming concert will bring songs from Snatam Kaur's latest release, Anand, and GuruGanesha's new CD, Pure Ganesh, to life. Tickets are available online at http://www.SpiritVoyage.com or at the door.
