Since Luminar Leisure Limited began trading in 1988 in Kings Lynn; it has grown into the largest operator of licensed late-night venues in the United Kingdom. Following the phenomenal success of the Chicago Rock Cafes® and continued growth in the dancing division the Company floated and became listed on the London Stock Exchange in May 1996 with a market capitalisation of £30 million. Since flotation Luminar continued with the steady but rapid rise in its portfolio of brands and venues both by development and acquisition. In December 1999, Luminar plc purchased 27 venues from Allied Leisure for £35 million. This major purchase gave Luminar its first foothold in both Scotland and Central London. Following swiftly behind the Allied deal came the bigger acquisition of Northern Leisure plc in July 2000 making Luminar the largest late night operators in the UK. About Verve Public Relations Verve Public Relations was founded in December 1993 as CJP Public Relations, although our roots go back to 1986 when we provided public relations services to the film and entertainment industries.
