PR9.NET January 11, 2011 - The independent film, "Dreams Awake", a mystical family drama set at Mt. Shasta, will be released on DVD today. It has the distinction of being the only feature film written, shot, and edited in the Mt. Shasta, CA area.
The film stars Erin Gray, Gary Graham, and Tim O'Connor. Gray is known primarily for her lead roles in the TV series "Silver Spoons" and "Buck Rogers in the 25th Century," but has also appeared in several other TV series' and indie films. Graham starred in the TV series "Alien Nation" and "Star Trek Enterprise," along with roles in a number of indie films. O'Connor came out of retirement to cap off his long career, which included starring opposite Erin Gray in "Buck Rogers," as well as numerous roles dating back to the 1950's. He is primarily known for his role in the 1960's TV series "Peyton Place."
"Dreams Awake" was directed by Jerry Alden Deal from a script also written by him. Deal has been a script-for-hire for several years, but this film is his directorial debut. He is also developing two sequels to "Dreams Awake" as part of his 'Awaken' Trilogy, and has several other projects in development as well.
The Mt. Shasta area is well-known for the mysterious tales that surround this awe-inspiring peak in northern California. From the Native American legends, to the numerous UFO sightings, to stories of strange lights and sounds emanating from the mountain, and to scores of spiritual seekers who trek here each year, the setting of "Dreams Awake" seems appropriate.
The film story's logline reads: "While on vacation a disconnected family gets stranded near mystical Mt. Shasta and gets more than they could have ever bargained for. A glimpse into the subtle but intense possibilities of the human spirit, this spiritual drama delves into that magical lore between reality and illusions, dreams and awake, and life and immortality."
