The Award Winning Motion Picture MORNING SONG WAY to Screen at Film Festival
PR9.NET April 17, 2007 - Fries, Virginia - Native American Actress and Virginian Jennifer Redbird today spoke of unity and remorse for the tragedy which occurred in nearby Blacksburg at Virginia Tech. She took the day off from promoting her film MORNING SONG WAY which is one of the films scheduled to screen at the TOP TEN FILMS IN AMERICA FESTIVAL which starts Thursday in the town of Fries and the City of Galax. MORNING SONG WAY has won 11 awards so far in film festivals nationally including Best Actress and Rising Star awards for Redbird. Redbird, who was only ten during the filming of the movie, will attend both screenings at the Fries 1910 Theater on Friday and the historic REX Theater in Galax on Saturday along with actress and Native American elder Glenda Bean. The film festival which was supposed to help an impoverished community and benefit a Recreation Center in the Blue Ridge Mountains has only sold five tickets so far. The resulting backlash from the Virginia Tech shootings knocked a film festival media blitz completely off the airways as news from the campus shootings captured all media headlines. Redbird remains optimistic. "What this little film festival needs right now in fact what the whole area needs right now is a little love. I've got plenty of that to spare." Instead of the usual signing of autographs which occur at film festivals, Redbird has been hugging and been being hugged by friends, family, and fans. Some families have yet to hear from sons or daughters at Tech. Almost every other family in the area has a student at the 11,000 student Virginia Tech. The TOP TEN FILMS IN AMERICA FESTIVAL will have several world premieres and feature Producers, Directors, and stars of independent films, that is, if anyone comes.
