"What's The Vig?" Wins At New York International Independent Film & Video Festival
The independent comedy, "What's the Vig?", took the laurels for Best Comedy at the Los Angeles leg of the NYIIFVF. PR9.NET September 28, 2006 - San Diego - The New York International Independent Film & Video Festival (NYIIFVF) has presented "What the Vig?" it's 2006 Best Comedy Award. Screened September 17th at the Los Angeles leg of the Festival, "What's the Vig?" received rave reviews by attendees, judges and staff. "It's one of the best films at the Festival this year," said NYIIFVF coordinator, Shorty Brown. The New York International Independent Film and Video Festival is the largest film festival in the world. NYIIFVF has been recognized by the film and entertainment industry as one of the leading film events on the independent festival circuit. "What's the Vig?" is an independent feature film produced by Dawson Digital Productions and writer/director, Al Stoffel. Featuring the talents Landon Vaughn, Cristyn Chandler and Karl Backus, the film is the story of Tommy Irish is a dreamer, a documentary filmmaker large on ambition, thin on talent. He brings his ragtag film crew into a print shop, attempting to capture the pulse of America ? the small business. Under time pressure from the Donald Vito, who wants to collect the Vig, Tommy begins to panic ? his frustration at watching the ink dry drives him to "direct" reality. Complicating his life is his desire to define his ambiguous sexuality with his beautiful line producer, Julia. His nemesis is Kenneth, the religiously hypocritical owner of the print shop, who is hatching an evil master plan. The film is currently entered in the top festivals in the country and is looking for distribution.
