San Diego Independent Film Ready to Shine
"What's the Vig?", an independent film, shot and cast entirely in San Diego, hits the Film Festival Road. PR9.NET June 20, 2006 - San Diego - With a budget of only 20 thousand dollars and everyone working deferred, "What's the Vig?" is a small film with a big heart. Produced by Dawson Digital Productions and witer/director, Al Stoffel, "What's the Vig?" is marching head-long into the Film Festival Circuit. Featuring the talents Landon Vaughn, Cristyn Chandler and Karl Backus, the film is the story of Tommy Irish is a dreamer, a documentary filmmaker large on ambition, thin on talent. He brings his ragtag film crew into a print shop, attempting to capture the pulse of America – the small business. Under time pressure from the Donald Vito, who wants to collect the Vig, Tommy begins to panic – his frustration at watching the ink dry drives him to "direct" reality. Complicating his life is his desire to define his ambiguous sexuality with his beautiful line producer, Julia. His nemesis is Kenneth, the religiously hypocritical owner of the print shop, who is hatching an evil master plan. The film is currently entered in the top festivals in the country and is looking for distribution.
