Cliffside Small Press Publishes Old Mr. Scrooge
10-minute adaptation of Charles Dickens classic novel, A Christmas Carol was written by professional actor, playwright and published poet Patrick Riviere. The 22-page version brings the tale to families and children as a holiday bedtime favorite or great as a play. PR9.NET November 14, 2007 - USA/New Jersey – Cliffside Small Press has just published Patrick Riviere's 10-minute adaptation of the Dickens classic, A Christmas Carol, entitled Old Mr. Scrooge. The piece was adapted 15 years ago by Riviere for his children's theatre troupe, P.I.E. (Projects in Education), which still does programming today in the tri-state area. Old Mr. Scrooge takes the classic novel (a favorite to so many) and makes it very accessible. Riviere also made the character of Scrooge "hard-of-hearing" which lends for some funny misunderstandings with the spirits. As a ten minute piece, it is great for children and families. Scrooge and the Crachit family and the three ghosts: Past, Present and Future are all there...and of course, Tiny Tim! The book also features some of the original black and white illustrations by John Leech which were included in the original Dickens novel published by Chapman and Hall in London in 1843. Riviere is best know for his work as a stage actor and as the first Industry/Professional Liaison at NYU's Tisch School of the Arts. He is the Artistic Director of his own non-profit theatre company and also continues to write and perform.
