Local actor and author begins book tour in New Jersey
Book reading and signing by author Patrick Riviere who will also speak about his career in the entertainment business and his very difficult battle with depression. PR9.NET March 02, 2007 - USA/ New Jersey - Probably best known for his work as an actor and as a drama teacher at the famed TISCH School of the Arts, Patrick Riviere has penned a collection of poems and observations colorfully highlighted by his late mother's paintings entitled, Flowers in Autumn: endings and beginnings (Cliffside Small Press). While the book is beginning to gain some attention and sell on-line, Patrick is taking his show on the road allowing people to hear the work for free, and if they like it, he's selling the book at a discounted price…he'll even sign them! "I'm not making money on this but that's not what this project is about for me. It's just great to share it with folks and just get the word out about the book," exclaims Riviere. Cliffside Park resident, author and teacher Giovanna Bellia La Marca wrote that "Patrick is a real wordsmith and the poems are evocative, full of meaning and very beautiful." And acclaimed author and restaurateur Jean Claude Baker (adopted son of the famous Josephine Baker) exclaimed simply of the book, "Fabulous, fabulous, fabulous!" Patrick, who has lived in Weehawken, Union City, North Bergen and now for over five years in Cliffside Park, considers New Jersey his home, even though he grew up in the small town of Albion, between Rochester and Buffalo, New York. A professional actor, teacher, playwright, poet and now author, Patrick feels honored to be sharing his work through a book tour that will begin on March 11th and continue through this fall reaching multiple venues in the tri-state area. The book, broken into two sections, reveals the author's love of nature and the countryside, but also openly expresses his own personal loss and his battle with depression; even contemplations of suicide. The book is also sprinkled with his mother's artwork. "She was a remarkable painter and no one ever knew. She began to paint to deal with her own depression but because it was her therapy, she never shared it with anyone. It was so important that I include her work in this project. People have expressed their love and appreciation for her art as much as for my writing and that pleases me," Riviere mentioned. Patrick will read some of the poems and observations from the book and also discuss the issues brought out by the work. In addition, he'll take questions regarding his life in the entertainment industry and of course his very real battle with depression. The book tour dates include: Sunrise Senior Living of Edgewater, Edgewater, NJ – March 11, 2007 @ 2PM Cliffside Park Public Library, Cliffside Park, NJ – March 29, 2007 @ 7PM Englewood Public Library, Englewood, NJ – April 12, 2007 @ 7:30PM Lewiston Public Library, Lewiston, NY – April 28, 2007 @ 2PM Albion Swan Library, Albion, NY – April 29, 2007 @ 1PM For more information and a preview of the book, please visit www.lulu.com/parplaywright. # # #
