The Art of Giving Back
Park West Gallery Launches Summer Initiative to Support Community Organizations with Clothing Donations.
PR9.NET July 29, 2010 - Southfield, MI - Park West Gallery is kicking off its Park West CARES initiative with a summer clothing and merchandise donation program to benefit community organizations in southeast Michigan. Over 3500 articles of new clothing will be donated locally during July and August to HAVEN of Oakland County, Grace Centers of Hope, Capuchin Soup Kitchen, Covenant House, Detroit Rescue Mission and Vista Maria.
"This initiative is a great opportunity to give back to our local community, and continues our long history of supporting non-profits that provide hands-on help to people in need" said Albert Scaglione, CEO of Park West Gallery. "Since these are all items that can provide basic needs or improve someone's quality of life, we are extending this support to a variety of organizations that can immediately provide assistance to others."
The first local Michigan donation was made on Friday, July 23rd to HAVEN in Pontiac, Michigan. HAVEN will be giving the clothing to survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault who have left their homes in search of temporary shelter.
"We are very grateful for this donation from Park West Gallery; it will help our families as they look to start a new life after leaving an abusive relationship," says Belle Hornung, HAVEN's Volunteer, Intern and In-Kind Donations Coordinator.
Donations are also scheduled for Friday July 30th to Detroit Rescue Mission, Friday August 6th to Capuchin Soup Kitchen in Detroit, Michigan, Friday, August 13th to Grace Centers of Hope in Pontiac, Michigan, and Friday, August 20th to Vista Maria in Detroit, Michigan.
For over thirty years, HAVEN has been working towards eliminating domestic violence and sexual assault by building violence-free communities one family at a time. It is a nationally recognized non-profit offering treatment and prevention services across Oakland County, Michigan and the surrounding communities.
