Be sure to fully understand traveling requirements when preparing for Red Hat Society convention travel.

PR9.NET June 11, 2008 - ROCHESTER, MI – The Red Hat Society's 10th Annual Convention is approaching, and this year, Red Hat members will have to be mindful of some new travel regulations before they set forth on their journey. The "Decades of Sparkle" convention will be held in Orlando, Florida, from June 19th through June 23rd. Since many Red Hatters will be flying to this event, RedHatsandMore.com wants to make them aware of some fairly new carry-on regulations before they start packing.

According to the Transportation Security Administration, rules for storage and quantity of liquids carried on must be followed or the traveler's items will be discarded before boarding the plane. All liquids, gels, and aerosols must be contained in three ounce or smaller containers, and then placed in a single, quart-size, zip-top, clear plastic bag. Each traveler can fill only one of these plastic bags so that it may be put into a bin for X-ray screening. Also, anything sharp and metal, such as nail clippers, must not be packed into the traveler's carry-on bag because these items will be confiscated by security.

Aside from the three ounce rule, packing the right items in a carry-on bag will aid in the comfort of travel. Red Hatters should pack an extra change of clothes, such as our comfy T-shirts or Cotton Shorts, in case of delays or luggage loss. Carrying on any prescribed medicines or essentials is also imperative for a comfortable flight. Certain liquids are permitted by the Transportation Security Administration so long as they have been prescribed by a doctor or are medically necessary, so be sure to bring the proper documentation to prove this.

A smooth walk through security will make the Red Hat Society member's trip to the convention much more enjoyable, so take note of these tips and have a safe flight to "Decades of Sparkle."
