It will be held April 4-6, 2008 at Meredith College in Raleigh, N.C.

"The Competition for Young String Soloists is an excellent example of how the orchestra continues to dedicate part of its activity to looking for new emerging talents and aiding their fledgling careers," says Muti. "We want the competition to be an attraction for the best young talents in the field of string playing at a national level. At the same time, we hope it to be a stimulus and a tool of comparison for the local young performers."

First prize in the competition will consist of a $10,000 award and an appearance with the Chamber Orchestra of the Triangle during the 2008-2009 season, The second and third place winners will receive $2,500 and $1,500 awards respectively.
