INTERNATIONAL awarding body Edexcel has partnered with SQTL Integrated Solutions in India to provide globally recognised BTEC HNC (Higher National Certificate) qualifications.

PR9.NET August 08, 2007 - NEW DELHI - INTERNATIONAL awarding body Edexcel has partnered with SQTL Integrated Solutions in India to provide globally recognised BTEC HNC (Higher National Certificate) qualifications.

With growing pressure to produce employable graduates with globally transferable skills, many education institutions, including SQTL, have chosen an Edexcel BTEC qualification to offer at their centre to provide much-needed practical training for a future workforce.

SQTL recognised courses are offered across 13 locations in India, with students and professionals undertaking courses to pursue a career in IT or to build skills in their current profession. More than 4000 students and professionals study at SQTL centres each year.

The Chairman of SQTL Mr. Shashikant Mohite said that with so many international organisations outsourcing their IT requirements to India, SQTL responded to the need for graduates who can quickly enter the workforce by offering BTEC qualifications.

'The need for graduates who are able to slip straight into the workforce is vital for the IT sector in India,' Mr Mohite said.

'If we are going to retain the amount of work we have coming through in this industry at the moment, we need to continue to provide highly skilled workers with practical, workplace experience, which is why we offer BTEC qualifications'.

Edexcel's Higher National Certificates (HNC) and the Diplomas (HND) are designed with employers to provide students with skills relevant to the needs of an occupation that are immediately transferable in the workplace. Many students use their BTEC HNC and HND qualifications to progress onto degree courses around the world. Students with these qualifications are often first choice for employers as they can start the job with the relevant skills.

BTEC qualifications provide learners with proven application of skills applicable in the workplace, as opposed to academic qualifications which demand an understanding of knowledge, and not a proven application of learning. A vocational qualification with a history of nearly 25 years , BTEC offers a tried and tested balance of education and vocational application in work-related arenas.

India's developing economy and booming IT industry requires a skills-based education system to reflect its growing employment needs. The choice of BTEC qualifications by large training bodies like SQTL shows a determination to ensure that its local workforce has access to training which is recognised by an international qualification.
