Digital River Builds a Try-Before-You-Buy Software Site for GMQ
Expands e-commerce agreement and offers access to a downloadable software catalog.
PR9.NET May 11, 2004 - Digital River, Inc. (NASDAQ: DRIV), a global leader in e-commerce outsourcing, today announced it expanded its existing e-commerce agreement with GMQ, a new media management company. Based on the agreement, together Digital River and the company have built a new try-before-you-buy (TBYB) software portal. Through this portal, located at www.canalsw.com , GMQ can now market and sell Digital River's TBYB software catalog to its customers. Digital River's catalog represents a collection of downloadable TBYB software programs from small and large publishers and features computer utilities, games, and business, graphic and Internet applications.
"We continue to make strong progress expanding the Digital River Sales Network," said Dave Alampi, vice president of marketing for Digital River. "Through our TBYB sales model, we've created another revenue-generating opportunity for our online channel partners. In addition to selling their products based on a direct sales model, our clients can now leverage our TBYB option to offer their customers a risk-free way to sample a new catalog of software titles before committing to an online purchase. By taking advantage of this new trialware option, our clients can give their customers more reasons to come back and visit their sites and create an expanded level of online service designed to build customer loyalty."
Customers visiting GMQ's TBYB site can browse through Digital River's online catalog and download software programs for a limited trial period. Then based on Digital River's in-product purchase and registration technology, they will automatically be prompted to buy the programs at a later date.
Digital River hosts and manages GMQ's TBYB online portal as well as its primary e-commerce site located at www.softwareboy.com. For these sites, Digital River also handles payment processing, fraud, customer service, reporting and digital downloads.
"We are pleased to expand our e-commerce agreement with Digital River," said Goran Glück, GMQ's founder and marketing manager. "We are continually looking for creative new ways to build more value. By working with Digital River, we've been able to deliver a world-class e-commerce infrastructure that stands for reliability and stability as well as an online product selection that offers flexibility and variety."
