The decision to start using fibre routed through London's sewer system was a result of growing concerns over network outages and security.
PR9.NET May 19, 2008 - London, United Kingdom - Geo, a leading provider of dedicated fibre networks today announced that it has been selected by major Icelandic Telco provider Siminn, to provide them with a dedicated fibre connection between two London data centres for a 5 year term. This collaboration will enable Siminn to offer its customers, which include several major Icelandic banks, with faster and more secure services.
Siminn commissioned Geo to upgrade and replace their existing link between Telehouse East and Telecity Redbus Meridian Gate with a diverse dedicated fibre connection. The decision to start using fibre routed through London's sewer system was a result of growing concerns over network outages and security. The sewers provide a much safer environment for fibre than traditional trenches as they are less likely to be interrupted by street digging.
