FW: Mi-Co Announces Release 5.5 of Mi-Forms
Mi-Co's new release of Mi-Forms, the enterprise mobile data capture software system. Release 5.5 includes new features and improvements in the entire workflow process of forms based data collection for users of Tablet PCs and Digital Pens PR9.NET December 21, 2005 - Research Triangle Park, NC. Today, Mi-Co announced the availability of a new release of Mi-Forms, the enterprise mobile data capture software system. Release 5.5 includes new features and improvements in the entire workflow process of forms based data collection: Forms Design, Data Capture, Data Validation and Information Communication. "While Mi-Co's major product enhancements generally ship in the spring of each year, the staff was able to develop and test some of these planned enhancements earlier than expected," said Jason Priebe, Director of Software Development, "and we are pleased these features were included in Release 5.5." Forms Design: Organizations developing forms with the Mi-Forms Designer will find a number of improvements to increase flexibility and ease of use. With this release, for example, validation rules can be built through a point-and-click authoring system. Tools for alignment, distribution and sizing of form elements are improved. In addition, enhancements have been made to Mi-Co's object model and rich event model that increase the developer's control of the end user's interaction with the form. Data Capture: There are a number of Data Capture improvements that enhance the user experience. The most visible data capture enhancement is the support of the Nokia SU-1B digital pen. Mi-Co continues to lead the industry in providing device independence and user flexibility by supporting multiple methods for the data capture process. The Nokia pen joins the previously supported devices such as the Tablet PC, the Logitech io2 digital pen and BlueTooth digital pens. Mi-Forms digital pen support is based on Anoto functionality. Data Validation: In the area of data validation and data quality, end users will find a new Form Validation Window that provides detailed information on any validation rules that need correcting before the data is sent to the back end systems. The Validation Window allows users to quickly identify and display problematic fields and correct any errors on the form. With this window, the productivity gains for end users are substantial and a high level of data quality will still be maintained. Information Communication: Related to this aspect of mobile data capture and forms automation, the Mi-Forms System now generates dynamic vector PDFs as an output format. This capability allows for a greater degree of control of both the format (the user-facing data capture form and the printed form can be independent) and the content of the generated PDFs (text fields can be rendered with ink or with text values). For no additional fees, each of Mi-Co's customers will receive this new release as part of the Mi-Co license agreement. In addition to full support of Release 5.5, technical support will continue to be provided for all previous Version 5 releases. # # #
