PageTech adds PCL to XPS conversion technology to its line of PCL Transformation products. With this latest addition PageTech now offers a complete solution for developers to convert PCL into both PDF and XPS documents.

PR9.NET June 07, 2007 - San Diego, CA - PageTech, the leading provider of HP PCL transformation tools for developers, today announced that it has added Microsoft XPS conversion technology to its line of PCL Transformation products. With this latest addition PageTech now offers a complete solution for developers to convert PCL into both PDF and XPS documents.

XPS is Microsoft's new XML Paper Specification (XPS) format, which is positioned to compete with Adobe's Portable Document Format (PDF). Upcoming versions of MS Windows and Office will offer options for directly outputting XPS ePaper documents. All documents will be able to print to XPS without an intermediary XPS file converter, which eliminates the need for Adobe Acrobat.

Because XPS is based on XML, it holds several advantages over PDF. For one, it will play nice with other technologies, such as the industry standard ZIP compression technology, digital rights management, etc. XPS is independent of software and hardware, so users will not need a separate reader (such as Adobe Acrobat Reader) to open and read XPS documents. This will make integrating XPS documents into workflow applications easier for developers and users.

PageTech's PCL to XPS conversion technology is positioned to convert high volume HP PCL print streams of transactional documents like invoices, statements, claim forms, etc. into this new portable document format for viewing, emailing, archiving or re-printing to any printer. PageTech's PCLTool SDK includes tools to easily split multiple-page PCL print streams into individually named XPS documents with self-documenting internal XMP metatags and external file indexes for rapid batch import into any third party document imaging product.
