Because of a new law several communities in California have announced bans on cell phones from trash pickup. But thanks to CellForCash.com residents now have a profitable alternative.

PR9.NET February 28, 2006 - OCALA, Fla – Over 11 million cell phones are retired each month in the US and because of their size, most can easily make it to your local waste stream. In support of new state recycling laws many California communities are banning their disposal in local landfills.

Recently a ban went into effect in Yolo County California. Beginning February 9th residents are prohibited from disposing hazardous wastes items in their everyday garbage. Instead, hazardous waste items, including cell phones, must be recycled.

These bans could actually turn out to be an opportunity to make some extra cash for residents, if they find their way to www.CellForCash.com – the web site would like to pay consumers cash for the old cell phones that they want to get rid of.

"What people may not realize is that their old cell phones may have significant cash value – anywhere from a few dollars to well over $100 per phone," said James Mosieur, CEO of RMS Communications Group Inc., the company that operates CellForCash.com.

If your phone does not qualify for a cash payout CellForCash.com will recycle it for free. Printing a pre-paid mailing label from the website and handing the package to your postman is a lot more convenient than going to the local landfill.

Programs banning electronic devices from regular trash pickups are becoming more common throughout the country, Mosieur said. The cash payments offered by www.CellForCash.com are a viable alternative to simply handing over old cell phones to recyclers who don't pay for the devices.

CellForCash.com pays for over 500 different models of used cell phones and then re-markets them around the world. Some recycled cell phones are used in the company's 911 Cell Phone Bank program, which provides no-cost emergency cell phones to elderly and abused throughout the country. Over 1,000 cell phones are donated to law enforcement and other agencies every month.

"We are proud to be an industry leader in the responsible recycling of old phones," Mosieur said.
