IFSQN.com launch ISO 22000 Food Safety Standards Directory
The International Food Safety & Quality Network has launched an online Food Safety Standards Directory for suppliers involved with Certification to the new ISO 22000 global Standard. PR9.NET July 02, 2006 - UK, Manchester - ISO 22000 was developed by the International Organization for Standardization in close cooperation with the Codex Alimentarius Commission to harmonize the requirements for systematically managing safety in food supply chains worldwide. The format of ISO 22000 allows implementation by food companies such as feed producers, primary producers and food manufacturers; as well as by providers of non-food materials and services such as transport and storage operators and subcontractors to retail and food service outlets – together with related organizations such as producers of equipment, packaging material, cleaning agents, additives and ingredients. While ISO 22000 can be implemented on its own, it is designed to be fully compatible with ISO 9001:2000 and companies already certified to ISO 9001 will find it easy to extend this to certification to ISO 22000. Michelle Graham, Assistant Editor: www.ifsqn.com is astounded by the level of interest in ISO 22000 since its launch in September 2005: "Our discussion forums are usually a very good indicator of the 'hot topics' in food safety and ISO 22000 has been high on the agenda for a number of months now. There is rapidly growing demand from our global membership, from all sectors of the food industry, for information and help with interpreting the requirements of ISO 22000." Because ISO 22000 is an internationally recognized standard for food safety management systems, certification is both a prestigious achievement and demonstration of the organizations commitment to assuring safe food supply. The IFSQN.com Food Safety Standards Directory is a global database for Food Safety Consultants who can assist organizations in developing a Food Safety management System to meet with the requirements of ISO 22000:2005 as well as for Accredited Certification Bodies who carry out assessment audits and issue Certificates of Registration to ISO 22000.
