A Chat With New York Babz On Publishing With Xlibris
Self-published author talks about her publishing experience with Xlibris. PR9.NET October 10, 2006 - Roseville, CA - War is as old as humanity and for whatever reason; people will find new reason to wage war. We never learn. Peace will always be elusive, despite all the pain and suffering involved in worldwide conflict. Now the question is, "Why does God let this happen?" The same thing asked by Dieter in Barbara Bitela's book – Full Moon Morning. Although set in World War II amidst the conflict between the Allied Powers and the Axis Powers, this novel couldn't be timelier at this day and age with today's war riddled headlines. In Full Moon Morning, Bitela stressed out that faith helps guide us through betrayal, tragedy—even death and helps us rejoice more fully in victory. After much research on her publishing options, Bitela decided to self-publish with Xlibris. She advises other authors who are considering self-publishing companies to consider the importance of the proofreading stage. "I think the 'galley' process is often overlooked. I highly recommend you have the publisher help you with this if you can." Bitela enjoyed working with Xlibris throughout her publishing process. "My rep was terrific, and often I was not all that together, and often in a hurry, so her patience was great." After self-publishing her book, Bitela received great reviews. "It's been amazing," she said. "I get comments like "can't put it down" to "this should be a film." What's so amazing about that is that we now have an agent to represent the film SHANGHAI SURVIVOR (based on our book). So it's taken an exciting turn." Bitela also managed to successfully market her book. As an advice to self-published authors, she said, "Go to coffee shops, eateries and book stores in your local areas and have something to give away. Also be ready to give back. For each book we sell, $1 goes to Feed The Children, and they give us things to give away at book signings. Everybody wins." Barbara Bitela also triumphed at the 2006 CNW/FFWA Florida State Writing Competition Writers Editors Network by emerging first place Short Story Fiction. # # #
