Selling Through Your Website Made Easy
Online marketing expert shares insight into writing copy that sells. PR9.NET January 07, 2008 - Boca Raton, FL – Did you know that a potential customer decides in seconds whether to stay on or leave your website? "The more you know about the behavior of your potential customers, the better your chances of them becoming a paying customer," explained Allison Nazarian, founder and president of Get It In Writing, a copywriting and marketing firm. "Regardless of what you're selling – a product, service, your expertise – this holds true. For instance, we know that most people skim your content; skip around within the same page and click all over the site. They scan and their eyes tend to hone in on headlines, blurbs and captions." Some other ways to make the sale online: - Remember less is more: If you feel like writing poetic prose about your product or service - Don't! It's a hard thing to hear, but the readers don't care. They want solutions. - Cut the...jargon: Readers like upbeat copy. They want a personal experience. Keep it real. - Think like a buyer: Shopping online is different than shopping in a store. Customers do not have the luxury of physically interacting with your product or asking live questions. Give them all of the details (even if you think they're obvious). "Making sure your website speaks to the needs and wants of your potential customer is key," Nazarian added. "If they are confused, or can't find answers immediately, they will abandon it without a second thought." # # #
