Corby Cochran Anderson to Speak on Trademark Law at the National Forum on Franchising. PR9.NET October 10, 2007 - CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Helms Mulliss Wicker PLLC, (HMW) a law firm practicing in litigation, finance and corporate law, announces Member Attorney Corby Cochran Anderson will be co-conducting a workshop on Protecting Your Famous Marks and The Trademark Dilution Revision Act of 2006 at the American Bar Association's (ABA) Forum on Franchising in Phoenix, AZ, October 10 through 13. Anderson represents business clients and others, from rap artists to race car drivers, in trial and appellate litigation involving trademark, copyright, and trade secret issues. "I am delighted to present a workshop on the new trademark law to the ABA Franchise Forum," says Anderson. "The Trademark Dilution Revision Act gives franchisors and others a strong advantage in protecting their famous marks. After only a year, the new law has already been the subject of nearly 30 court decisions, involving marks that range from "Nike" to 7-Eleven's "Big Gulp." And the first appellate decision -- one that pits "Louis Vuitton" for luxury leather goods against "Chewy Vuiton" for pet chew toys -- is due to be issued soon." The Forum on Franchising, now in its 30th year, has a mission to be the preeminent forum for the study and discussion of the legal aspects of franchising. More than 800 ABA members are expected to attend the annual forum that provides the opportunity to learn from leading practitioners and earn continuing legal education credit.
