Creating a Passive Income by Blogging
A website that helps bloggers make a living. PR9.NET April 08, 2006 - Provo, Utah--A new website created by two computer science graduates from Provo-based Brigham Young University has created an opportunity for individuals with a talent for writing to earn money blogging. The new site, called writingup.com, is heavily promoted by two experts in the field of internet marketing. The creators have been generating electronic attention for websites of their choosing for years now. "Writing Up is about helping people with things to say have a place to say them and get paid for it," says John Jonas, one of Writing Up's creators, "I mean, these are single moms, dads with families who just got layed off, poor college students--people like that. They need a way to make money using their talent for information gathering and expression." This site, http://www.writingup.com, was launched only a few months ago, but since then it has been growing faster than "John and Dan"--as the two programmers behind the site are known to the writingup.com community--had anticipated. The interesting aspect of this website is that the John and Dan provide the complete marketing apparatus necessary for a blog writer to earn money. All the writer is required to do is sign up and then provide their readers with consistent, focused content. The rest is essentially automatic for the blogger. One user had this to say about the new site: "I love Writing Up, it really gives me the chance to showcase some of my best skills as a movie reviewer and writer. I also get to engage in fun and interesting conversations with other bloggers in the community." Asked whether he has made money or not, the blogger said, "not yet, but you know it takes time to accumulate a presence on the web." The way it works is that the programmers place Adsense ads on each of the blogs in the community. Half of the ads direct payment to the programmers, the other half to the writer of the blog. This way the earnings are split 50/50. The programmers use their half to support the site and as profit, while the bloggers pocket their half. The result is a site where bloggers can enjoy themselves writing and reading other members' blog entries, while at the same time earning a growing stream of passive income. # # #
