Anti-Phishing Solution Named as 2005 Homeland Security Award Semi-Finalist
On Saturday, June 4, 2005, Sestus Data Corporation was notified that its anti-phishing solution, the PhishCops Website Authentication Process, has been selected as a semifinalist for the 2005 Homeland Security Award in Washington D.C. PR9.NET June 30, 2005 - On Saturday, Sestus Data Corporation was notified that its anti-phishing solution, the PhishCops Website Authentication Process, has been selected as a semifinalist for the 2005 Homeland Security Award in Washington D.C. The Christopher Columbus Fellowship Foundation is a United States Federal Government agency established to "encourage and support research, study and labor designed to produce new discoveries in all fields of endeavor for the benefit of mankind." The Foundation's Board of Trustees selects the semifinalists and semifinalists are sent for ranking to a national Evaluation Committee composed of prominent individuals representing diverse fields of human endeavor. The Foundation awards four Homeland Security Awards to "United States individual citizens or companies that are making a measurable and constructive contribution related to basic and/or advanced research in the area of homeland security which will result in a significant and positive benefit to society". The four Award fields are: 1.Biological, Radiological, Nuclear - Including utilities (air, water, telephone), aviation, business vulnerabilities, sensors, and lack of situational awareness; 2.Border/Transportation Security - Airport security, trucks, rail, and containers authorization, certification and tracking; 3.Emergency Response - Interoperability, emergency command centers, mobile devices (PDAs, cell phones, pagers, Internet); 4.Information Sharing - Cyber security, vertical and horizontal (Federal, State and private) communications, ways to encourage information sharing, privacy issues, and criminal and terrorist watch lists. Four finalists, one for each the above fields, will be notified in August 2005 and will be honored at a luncheon on Columbus Day, October 10th, 2005, in Washington , D.C. Several large financial entities are also reviewing this technology for immediate commercial use. # # #
