Benham, Ichen & Knox LLP Becomes Russell Bedford's Chicago Firm
Worldwide accounting group Russell Bedford International has announced the appointment of a Libertyville, Illinois, CPA practice as its member firm in the Chicago area. PR9.NET August 25, 2004 - Benham, Ichen & Knox LLP, an independent CPA firm located in Libertyville, Illinois, is the latest US practice to join the rapidly-expanding Russell Bedford International professional services network. The current structure of Benham, Ichen & Knox LLP (BIK) was established in 1985 through the merger of two firms, which had been practising since 1968. The firm's head office is located in Libertyville, a north-western suburb of Chicago. In addition, there is a branch office in Palatine, also near Chicago. The firm offers a full range of accounting, audit and financial consultancy related services, with emphasis on tax planning and compliance and management consulting. The firm has specialist expertise in valuation and litigation support, complex estate and trust compliance, medical practices and ERISA (Employee Retirement Income Security Act) audit issues. While no particular industry dominates their client base, they do have a concentration in real estate related business. BIK has six partners, four of whom have experience in a Big-4 firm. Jonas Ichen has been a partner since 1982. With over 30 years of professional experience, his specialist areas of expertise are partnership, corporate and individual tax planning and compliance and strategic management consulting. Alfred (Al) Knox has over 25 years of experience and became a partner in 1986. His experience spans several areas, including audit, controller services and management consulting. Larry Schmitt has more than 27 years of professional experience and has been a partner since 1990. He specialises in tax planning and compliance, controller services and management consulting. Charles (Chuck) Martin has been with the firm since 1984, becoming a partner in 1996. Chuck's specialist areas of expertise are tax and estate planning and compliance and accounting system consulting. Sue Witz has been with the firm since 1975, becoming a partner in 2004. Sue's specialist areas of expertise are planning and compliance in multi-jurisdictional taxation, corporate and individual taxation and management consulting. James Giese has over 20 years of experience. He joined the firm in 2003 and became a partner in 2004. Jim's specialist areas of expertise include corporate structure, tax planning and compliance and due diligence for merger and acquisition transactions. The firm is a member of the AICPA's private company practice section and is a member of the Illinois Society of CPAs. Emphasising the advantages to his firm's corporate and individual clients in joining Russell Bedford, Al Knox commented: "The profession is changing and we believe that firms of our size need to have access to greater resources.
