Comodo Acquires Assets of Privacy Software Corporation (PSC)
Kevin McAleavey, founder of PSC, to join Comodo and lead the development of next- generation versions of flagship anti-malware products NSClean, IE Clean and BOClean PR9.NET April 02, 2007 - Jersey City, NJ - Comodo, a global Certification Authority and leading provider of Identity and Trust Assurance (ITA) Management solutions, announced today the acquisition of the assets of Privacy Software Corporation (PSC), a privately-owned company that develops security technology for the detection of malware, trojans, spyware and rootkits. Acquired solutions include NSClean, IEClean, BOClean and FileVac. The acquisition extends Comodo's leadership in threat management, which began with firewall technology and has continued with recent moves into anti-spyware, anti-virus and anti-spam technology. Comodo will continue to market the former PSC solutions as standalone offerings as well as incorporate these products into Comodo's desktop security solution suite. "This acquisition supports Comodo's strategy to create a best-in-class desktop security suite, and we are delighted to add to our business Kevin McAleavey's expertise and PSC's products, with their well-earned reputation for quality and independence," said Melih Abdulhayoglu, President and CEO of Comodo. Sold via the Web, PSC will continue to support current customers without any disruption to services or scheduled updates. The company intends to release BOClean 4.23 in April.
