Shortlisted for an ecommerce award. Official invitation received from Andrew Davies AM, the Minister for Economic Development & Transport. But entry not judged. Why?

PR9.NET September 15, 2004 - The DTI's ecommerce Awards 2004 are now in their 6th year and the Welsh Assembly Government is the Wales sponsor. Cardiff based adult gifts firm Passion® was short listed for an award by Interforum, the Government-backed scheme dedicated to rewarding and promoting ecommerce amongst small and medium organisations. Director Faith Attwell could hardly believe her eyes when the invitation and official letter from the Welsh Assembly's Christine Cook arrived late in August. "As you can imagine, I told friends & associates we were being recognised for the hard work we put into running our ecommerce business. I've been really excited about attending the Wales final".

But when Company Directors Faith Attwell and Ben Williams sat at the awards final today, they noticed their website www.passiononline.co.uk was not in the official booklet. "I read through it twice", said Faith, "¡ there must have been a mistake. We asked a Welsh Assembly Official and were told that because our company sells adult items they could not access our site - so we had not been judged. They went on to blame Interforum for not informing us even though we received an official invitation from Andrew Davies AM, the Minister for Economic Development & Transport.

I feel outraged that this has happened. We provide an excellent service and our website has features that customers could not get by entering a retail store. That is what the e-trading category awards are supposed to be about."

However it seems that the Welsh Assembly slighted Passion® because they could not access our website because of censorship on their network. Passion® sells saucy goods, including adult toys and gives away thousands of free condoms to help promote the safe sex message.
Faith goes on to say, "Surely if the network was censored they could have looked from an external computer or gone back to Interforum. It would have saved me a lot of embarrassment and disappointment. We were short listed and our entry has not been judged. I am astonished that the Welsh Assembly would treat us this way in 2004".
