Digital River Expands E-Commerce Agreements with Download Superstore and Software Oasis
Digital River, Inc. (NASDAQ: DRIV), a global leader in e-commerce outsourcing, today announced that it signed expanded e-commerce agreements with Download Superstore and Software Oasis, Inc., to add the online retailers to its trialware channel. Based on these agreements, Digital River built and launched online stores to provide its channel partners access to a catalog of trialware software that they can market and sell to their customers. For convenience, the new trialware stores are located on the retailers' existing e-commerce sites. Digital River's trialware catalog represents a collection of try-before-you-buy (TBYB) software programs from small and large publishers and features computer utilities, games, and business, graphic and Internet applications.
PR9.NET February 19, 2004 - "We continue to grow our online sales channel, adding software titles to our catalog and software and content publishers, portal sites and online retailers to our online sales network," said Dave Alampi, Digital River's vice president of marketing. "By leveraging this network of relationships and products, we can work on behalf of our clients to help them create unique marketing and sales arrangements that would be difficult for them to develop on their own. Through our online sales network, we can help publishers generate greater market exposure for their products. At the same time, we provide our channel partners access to ready-made software catalogs that they can resell online to generate additional traffic and create new revenue streams."
Customers visiting Download Superstore at www.DownloadSuperstore.com and Software Oasis at www.softwareoasis.net can browse through an online trialware catalog and download free TBYB software programs for a limited time period with the option to purchase them at a later date. Digital River not only hosts the sites and provides access to its trialware software catalog, but also handles payment processing, fraud, customer service, reporting and digital downloads of the trialware catalog.
"To remain competitive in the world of online retailing, it is important to keep our product offering fresh to not only attract new customers, but also keep our current customers coming back for more," said Bret Garrett, vice president of sales for Download Superstore. "By expanding our relationship with Digital River and gaining access to its new trialware catalog, we can offer our customers a much broader product selection and give them the opportunity to try software before they decide to buy it - an option that is proving popular with our customers." Download Superstore, a division of Computer Future, Inc., is a leader in Internet development and software distribution.
"The try-before-you-buy concept is just another example of how Digital River has worked with us to provide more value to our customers. The new trialware section on our site offers an exciting and risk-free way for our customers to test drive and purchase popular titles at Software Oasis," said Michael Bernzweig, marketing director of Software Oasis. "By encoding the software with its unique tracking functionality, Digital River is able to provide us with detailed ROI statistics that help us better invest our marketing dollars." Software Oasis is a leading software provider at the forefront of secure electronic software distribution (ESD) technology.
