Eliminate Chronic Heel Pain Without Surgery
Extra Corporeal Shock Wave Therapy is a reasonably new treatment for those who are suffering from heel pain that has not responded to various treatments. The procedure can be done in the doctor's office or as an outpatient procedure. PR9.NET February 30, 2007 - Verona, NJ - Are you one of the many people who suffers from long term heel pain? You have tried everything under the sun, even seen multiple doctors and now are at a crossroad. Either you live with the pain, which can be crippling at times, or you consider surgery which generally carried a long recuperative period and no guarantees that you will be any better off after the surgery. Now there is another option. Extra Corporeal Shock Wave Therapy. Shock wave therapy as it is more commonly known is a treatment option that has been used for years on kidney stones is now available for painful plantar fasciitis. This is an FDA approved treatment that is "reserved" for those who have not gotten heel pain relief from any other treatment and have been suffering from heel pain for at least six months. The procedure itself is a totally non-invasive procedure that is routinely done either in the doctor's office or at the hospital or surgery center on an out patient basis. Typically it can be done under local anesthesia or intravenous sedation. The procedure takes about 30 minutes. Since there are no incisions, there are no dressings afterwards. Patients can get up under their own power and walk out of the room. The success rate for this treatment averages in the 80 percent range, but keep in mind this is in a population of people that have had chronic heel pain for at least six months with no relief from any other treatments. If this procedure were available for everyone that has suffered from heel pain it is safe to say the overall success rate would be in the 90-95 percent range. There is no longer any reason to suffer from chronic heel pain. See the complete discussion at http://www.foot-pain-explained.com/eswt.html Contact Dr. Mitnick for more insights into this topic.
