John Glaser Appointed CHIME's Senior Advisor for National HIT Adoption
Jim Turnbull, Chair of the CHIME Board of Trustees, has announced the appointment of John Glaser, PhD, CIO at Partners Healthcare in Boston, MA, to serve as CHIME's Senior Advisor for National HIT Adoption. In this position, Dr. Glaser will lead CHIME's initiatives and support in major areas of national activity. "As CHIME expands its role in the national movement to adopt IT in healthcare and achieve regional and national interoperability between these systems, we are proud and honored to have John Glaser, CHIME's Founding Chair, representing CHIME in providing CIO leadership. We will be supporting Dr. Glaser with CHIME's resources in the major initiatives currently underway."

The eHealth Initiative and the Foundation for eHealth Initiative: Independent, non-profit affiliated organizations that have a common mission: To drive improvement in the quality, safety, and efficiency of healthcare through information and information technology. Dr. Glaser is on the Board of the eHealth Initiative and serves as President of the Foundation for eHealth Initiative Board.
Connecting for Health: A public-private collaborative, sponsored by the Markle and Robert Wood Johnson Foundations, of more than 100 participants from both the public and private sectors focused on accelerating the adoption of interoperable health care information technology. Dr. Glaser currently chairs the Working Group for "Legal, Financial and Organizational Issues" related to a national health information network.
The National Alliance for Healthcare Information Technology: Established by the AHA, the Alliance has a broad cross-sectional membership serving the mission of advancing IT standards in healthcare.
Commenting on his appointment, Dr. Glaser indicated that "I am pleased to serve my CIO colleagues in CHIME. CIO leadership is critical to the success of the national programs to adopt IT in healthcare. I will ensure that our counsel is inserted into the planning and processes to further the national goal of computerizing and linking health records."
